Dear Sir

I write in connection with your request for information about investigations into allegations of racially discriminatory behaviour by police officers, which was received by Sussex Police on 23 May.

2002 - 9. Of these 5 were unsubstantiated, 1 was withdrawn, 1 was dealt with by informal resolution between the parties and 2 resulted in written wanting being issued to officers;

2003 - 6. of these 3 were unsubstantiated, 1 was withdrawn, 1 officer was required to resign and 1 was fined;

2004 - 8. Of these 5 were found to be unsubstantiated, 1 was dealt with by informal resolution, 1 officer was required to resign and 1 resigned before an internal disciplinary tribunal was held;

2005 - 10. Of these 7 were unsubstantiated, 1 was locally resolved, 1 was closed with the agreement of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), and 1 resulted in no formal disciplinary action being taken;

2006 - 4. Of these 4 were unsubstantiated and 1 officer resigned before an internal disciplinary tribunal was held;

2007 - 11. Of these 7 were unsubstantiated, 2 were locally resolved, 1 was closed with the agreement of the IPCC, and 1 was withdrawn

2008 - 2 (to the date of your request). Of these 1 was unsubstantiated and 1 was locally resolved.
