1.
Introduction to Destination Statistics

What is in these statistics?

This booklet contains details of the destinations of Year 11 full-time students from all
maintained mainstream schools and special schools/Pupil Referral Units in Brighton &
Hove and East Sussex. It does not include students from independent schools.

The destinations are those known at 1st November 2007 and not necessarily the first
destination of students leaving school.

How are these statistics collected?

Sussex Careers starts collecting data from 1st October 2007 onwards as part of its
regular follow up of school leavers. In October a concentrated effort is made to check
the destinations of each individual young person. This is done as far as possible by
telephone and letter to the young person.
