Dear Mrs Campbell
Re: Freedom of Information Act 2000 - FOIA 538
Thank you for your recent request which has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). You requested the following information:
How many allotment sites are in the Council area for which the Council has access to waiting list data?
How many plots are on these sites in total?
In total, how many people are on these waiting lists for an allotment?
Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?
How many sites are there in total in the Council area?
I can confirm the following answers to your questions:
There are 3 sites in the Council area which I have access to waiting list data. They are Woodlands, Quarry Mount and Sandybed. Sandybed is actually run by an association and I have access to their waiting list.
There are 79 plots on the Woodlands site. There are 11 plots on the Quarry Mount site. There are about 123 plots on the Sandybed site. This would need to be confirmed.
I believe that there are 50 people on the waiting list for Sandybed. There is a combined total of 160 people on Woodlands and Quarry Mount.
I do not close the waiting lists, although I do make it clear that there is a large waiting list to any new applicants.
The Council only has responsibility for allotments within the town of Scarborough. There are 2 sites which are Council run at Woodlands and Quarry Mount. Sandybed is run by an association.
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our decision, you should write to Janet Deacon, Customer Services Manager, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, YO11 2HG or email [email address].
