1. To effectively strengthen WNC's engagement in women's human rights in the international arena.
2. To develop and actively engage wide-ranging, diverse, and representative stakeholders.
The WNC is the official independent advisory body established to provide a bridge between women's organisations and governments to ensure the views of women are brought into public debate. The WNC has always had a significant impact in representing women in the UK in the international arena.

Strategic Aim 1: To effectively strengthen WNC's engagement in women's human rights in the international arena

1) Bring together the views of women from around the UK on international human rights issues, to lobby government on key topics, and to contribute to government policy
|
Re-brand the Women's Human Rights e-network henceforth referring to it as the: European and International Network.
Update WNC website to reflect new changes in our international work remit.
Ensure current website pages on CEDAW and CSW are always as up to date as possible.
Agree a lead Commissioner to lead on WNC's international work from the current pool of Commissioners
Facilitate agreement of a suitable work plan, to include engagement with issues at EU and Commonwealth level. Identify working group members with a specific interest in these areas.
Support network to facilitate engagement with the UN's international instruments, through meetings and consultations e.g. WNC's co-ordination of the UK CEDAW Shadow Report, attendance at Inter-departmental 1325 meetings, and other BPfA activity.
Maintain high profile role at CSW and ensure that a continued link between the UK Government delegation and UK NGOs is in place before, during and post CSW. Update Commissioners and partners on WNC international work (via Commissioners meetings, website and newsletter)

2) Build effective sustainable relationships with relevant government players
|
Facilitate regular meetings between Ministers, government officials and Working Group Members on agreed women's human rights issues i.e build on and maintain close working relationships with officials in DfID, FCO (UKMis during CSW), GEO (sponsoring body) and MoD.
Ensure that WNC is represented at the relevant APPGs' i.e. 1325, Human Rights
Facilitate appropriate government access to women's networks as required in agreement with lead Commissioner and WNC Director.

Strategic Aim 2: To develop and actively engage wide-ranging, diverse, and representative stakeholders.

|
1) Achieve diverse and representative network group to ensure that a broad spectrum of views on women's international human rights issues are incorporated into our work and are conveyed to government.
|
In agreement with Outreach manager, carry out an analysis of our partnership base to identify under-represented groups with an international remit and invite those to join the network group taking into account the six equality strands.
Maintain good working relations and partnerships with existing NGOs active in the international arena e.g. NAWO, European Women's Lobby and WomanKind
Resources permitting, support NGO events and activities as and when required e.g. co-badge with NGOs at CSW side-events.
Facilitate the capacity-building of existing NGOs to encourage their engagement with smaller under-represented grassroots organisations.
Facilitate meetings between NGOs and Government officials.
Examine the feasibility of repeating IWIP, assuming funding can be found
Support international women's organisations, through initiatives such as the Iraqi Women's Internship Programme.
