  1. Update on Maps of Gaps

The report by EVAW and EHRC which outlines the post-code lottery of VAW support services was launched on Wednesday 28 November 2007. The study uses actual geographic maps which chart the geographic location and distribution of services.

There was good broadcast coverage including BBC Breakfast, GMTV, Radio 5 Live and lots of good media in the Nations & Regions. There was less coverage in the national papers.

It has now been reported that this issue is now firmly on the agenda of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, a key target for EVAW. Trevor Phillips has called VAW an 'undeclared war on women' and on BBC Breakfast gave a very clear warning to the worst local authorities that the Commission will be monitoring whether they take action and taking legal action if they don't.
