Women's National Commission- VAW Working Group update - July 2007

The main areas of work for the group have been;

  1. We have had to manage the complex situation following `Making the Grade' and the transition of EVAW (End Violence against Women) to a separate, albeit linked entity.

  2. Chairing meetings and signing off materials in relation to;

    1. Two working groups, one monitoring DV (Domestic Violence) delivery and one dealing with the SV (Sexual Violence) action plan.

    2. Linking SV sector and John Dunworth and raising issues about how policy is being implemented - particularly NSS.

  3. Meeting with Harriet Harman and Vera Baird on third party applications.

  4. There has been some movement on integration; on the Home Office work on SV and DV.

  5. Input to consultation on commissioning services for Dept. of Health.

  6. Work with EVAW in lobbying the CEHR and feeding into the EOCs gender-agenda campaign.

  7. Managing a potential rift in sector (DV and SV)

  8. Producing a shadow thematic CEDAW report on violence and input into the overall shadow report.

  9. Sharing links and cross-overs with the WNC Migration & Asylum working group.

  10. Working on the Equalities PSA.
