Dear Dr Levy
Freedom of Information Request Reference No: 165-08-647
On 11th December 2008 you made a Freedom of Information request to Surrey Police
and were provided with the response on 19th July 2010. On 30th July 2010 you
requested us to review that response and a month later you provided supplementary
information. I can advise you that the Surrey Police FOI Appeals and Complaints
Panel has now completed its review.
Your request states:
I am writing to request an internal review of the Surrey Police's handling of my
FOI request 'Anthrax or White Powder Hoaxes using the Mails in 2003'.
The appeals panel have reviewed your request and the original decision made by the
Information Access Team. The reasons they have provided to you in support of their
decision outline their response to each part of your request. Having considered these
reasons and their application to the constituent parts of your request we find that the
Freedom of Information Act has been applied correctly.
The paned did find that time taken to carry out both the initial response and the
internal review were both in excess of the statutory time limit to respond to you. We
apologise on behalf of Surrey Police for that breach of the legislation and any
inconvenience that may have caused.
If you are not satisfied with our response please refer to our review procedure (copy
enclosed) for further information on what to do next.
Yours sincerely
Surrey Police FOI Appeals and Complaints Committee
