IAR-001596 Response
Under the Freedom of information act I would like to request that
you let me know in the past 10 years
A) how many workers (in total) have been signed off work with
depression at the following council offices in the past 10 years.
B) how many did not come back to work
C) If any legal challenges were made against you as a council with
regard to these people being signed off work and the results,
whether they won, lost or whether it was settled. If they won how
much did they get? and if the council settled how much public money
did they get?
For the following Councils:
1. Kerrier 2. Carrick 3. Penwith 4. Restormal 5. Cornwall County
Council
Also;
a) I would like to know what criteria the council works by to
decide whether someone is eligible for a pay-off? b) what are the
payment scales if the council loses.
Unfortunately, the Council does not hold information relating solely on the incidence of “depression” amongst its workforce, but the Council could provide you with information about the number of working days lost each year due to conditions relating to “stress, anxiety and depression” if this would be helpful to you. The Council could also let you know how many employees each year retired on the grounds of ill-health - but not specifically for reasons relating to “depression”. The Council's insurance team are unaware of any successful claims made against the Council relating to an employee's “depression”.
The County Council does have a policy relating to the calculation of redundancy payments if this would be helpful to you. In other respects, there are no “payment scales” relating to severance payments (or “pay-off's). If I have misunderstood the nature of this request, please let me know and I will endeavour to provide you with the information you are seeking.
Finally, the County Council does not hold information relating to the workforce of the district councils in Cornwall
