Dear Mr. Stringer,
FOI REQUEST 0986-08
I am writing in response to your request for the release of information held by the Foreign and
Commonwealth Office (FCO) under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), which was
received on 9 December 2008.
You have asked for
a) the current number of full, or part-time, staff working for the British Muslim Engagement Unit
b) any published statement of mission, or similar, issued by the British Muslim Engagement Unit
c) the budget allocated to the British Muslim Engagement Unit in the current financial year
d) the cost of (i) publications issued by, (ii) advertising and promotion issued on behalf of and
(iii) events held by British Muslim Engagement Unit, in the most recent period for which figures
are held
I can confirm that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office does not hold any information relevant
to your request as we do not have a British Muslim Engagement Unit. The primary lead for
engaging with British Muslims is domestic departments. However, we do engage with a range of
British Muslims on foreign policy issues.
If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. Please remember to quote the
reference number above in any future communications.
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to
make a complaint, or request and internal review you should write to the FOI - Information
Rights Team if you wish to complain. You should do so within 40 working days.
If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you may apply directly to the
Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
