Dear Mr Winter

Request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Thank you for email received on 9 December 2008 requesting that the following information be provided to you:

“Can you please send me a list of all of the freedom of information

requests that you have received since 1 January 2005. The

information that I am seeking is as follows:

Date of Request; Information Requested; Date of Response; Did

requestor ask for review; Was information provided by electronic

means (eg email attachment).”

I can confirm that the Council holds all of the information that you are requesting. The Council is treating your request as a request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

On inspecting our records, however, it would appear that compliance with this request would cost the Council more than the upper limit allowed by section 12(1) of the Act and the fees regulations made under the Act (this limit is currently £600). Accordingly we are unable to comply with your request.

The Council has the option of complying with requests where the costs exceed £600. However, on this occasion we have decided not to due to the resources (both financial and human) which voluntary compliance with this request would divert away from our core business.

However, it would be possible for the Council to provide some of the information which you have requested within the cost ceiling laid down by the Regulations. In this case, we would be able to provide you with the following information free of charge:

From January 2005 until December 2008, Glasgow City Council has received a total of 7,014 freedom of information requests.

If you are dissatisfied with the way Glasgow City Council has dealt with your request you are entitled to require the Council to review its decision. Please note that for a review to take place you must:

The Solicitor to the Council

Email: [email address]

You will receive notice of the results of the review within 20 working days of receipt of your request. The notice will state the decision reached by the reviewing officer as well as details of how to appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner if you are still dissatisfied with the Council's response. You must request an internal review by the Council before a complaint can be directed to the Scottish Information Commissioner.

If you have any further queries regarding this process, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Kathleen Reid
