Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am seeking access to

any held information which addresses the following points:-

1. Whether staff are entitled to access Social Networking sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc…) via the organisations network. If so, which sites?

Yes, employees do have access to social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. We allow employees to use equipment for appropriate and moderate personal use.

2. If so, what are the acceptable usage terms (i.e. time spent per day)?

We have a flexible policy were employees can use these sites for moderate personal use outside working time. The policy is attached.

3. Any guidelines which set other standards or good practice in relation to the use of Social Networking sites.

We ask employees to agree to our Electronic Communication Policy every time they log on. The policy is attached.

4. Any documents which detail the benefits of marketing the organisation via Social Networking sites.

Communication, marketing and web colleagues are responsible for using social networking for marketing. No Kirklees Council documents or guidance currently exist - though there are many guides to social networking on the web.

5. Any guidelines issued to staff in relation to their home use of Social Networking sites.

Employees are required to abide by the use of Electronic Communications Policy.

6. A).How many staff have been disciplined in relation to inappropriate use (including excessive usage) of Social Networking sites?
