Thank you for your request for information, which was received by Essex 
County Council on 2nd September 2010. I am sorry for the delay in replying to 
your request; this was due to unforeseen absence. 
 
The information you requested is not held by or on behalf of Essex County 
Council so I am not able to provide it to you.  Owing to the way our library 
management system works we are only able to take a snapshot at the end of 
the financial year and then only if it is requested at the time.   In this instance 
no figures other than the total fines collected in the financial year (which are 
collected for CIPFA) were requested at the end of the 2008/9 FY so we are 
unable to provide the detailed information you requested. 
 
The total library fines collected for FY2008/9 were £378,856  
If you are not satisfied with my response to your request, please let me 
know.  If I am unable to resolve the issue immediately, I will explain our 
complaints procedure.  
If, after following our complaints procedure, you are still not satisfied, you are
