FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 (“the Act”)
Section 31
REFUSAL NOTICE
TO: Dave Schneider
OF: The Isle of Wight Council (“the Council”) refuse your request dated 18/08/2010
for the following information held by the Council :
Please supply your latest CLAS consultant annual Government
Connect assessment/audit report, blanking out any statements
which could contravene a security concern from a third party
reading it.
The reasons for the Council’s decision are as follows:
Some of the information you have requested is
exempt under section 31 of
Part II of the Act. As a local authority, the Council has to ensure that the data that it holds and/or
processes is secure and protected from unauthorised disclosure. Disclosing this
information would risk the data that should be secure. Disclosing this information
could leave our IT systems vulnerable to attack.
The Council has considered the Public Interest Test in this case. Whilst the
Council understands that there is a public interest in the activities of the Council,
The Council is of the opinion that the public interest in maintaining the exemption
outweighs the public interest in providing the information in this case. Disclosure
of this type of information could undermine the ability of the Council to carry out
its duties effectively.
