Dear Sir/Madam
Re:
Freedom of Information Request iw10/3/12454
Thank you for your information request dated 5th March 2010.
Please find attached a spreadsheet summarising the information that you have requested.
The figures provided show expenditure across all council departments including publicizing and
marketing our events such as the IW walking and cycling festivals as well as our tourism promotion
activity including that of our individual attractions. It should also be noted that a great proportion of the
overall expenditure is on the publishing of information for which we have a statutory duty such as
official notices, planning applications etc. In the main these are placed, naturally, in the local
newspaper with greatest circulation. Another significant area of expenditure is on recruitment and
many of these advertisements are for statutory posts.
Please contact me again if you require any further assistance on this matter and I will do my best to
provide relevant help and advice.
The Isle of Wight Council in complying with their statutory duty under sections 1 and 11 of the
Freedom of Information Act to release the enclosed information will not breach the Copyright, Designs
and Patents Act 1988. However, the rights of the copyright holder of the enclosed information will
continue to be protected by the law. If you wish to use this information, you may require approval or
licence from the copyright holder.
If you have any complaints in respect of your information request, please write to the Corporate
Information Unit at the above address or complete the on-line appeals form that can be found at
www.iwight.com/information. If your complaint is not resolved to your complete satisfaction, you have
the ultimate right, once you have exhausted the internal appeals process, to appeal to the Information
Commissioner.
Yours faithfully
Carol Harrison
