North Yorkshire Strategic Partnership hate crime task group
Terms of reference
Aims
To establish where the gaps in current hate crime support and reporting in NY exist
To identify solutions to address gaps in current provision
To make recommendations to the Public Confidence JCG, York and North Yorkshire Safer Communities Forum and the NYSP Equalities Task Group on how these solutions should be implemented
Scope
How to increase identification and reporting of hate crime directly to NYP
How to increase the resilience/confidence of vulnerable groups in identifying hate crimes when they occur
How to increase signposting of victim of hate crime to the police to report crimes and to appropriate victim support services.
Chair
The Chair will be appointed by the Chair of the York and North Yorkshire Safer Communities Forum.
Membership
The task group's membership will be;
3 representatives from the NYSP Equalities Task Group
1 practitioner from each of the equality strands
1 representative from the criminal justice system
2 representatives from North Yorkshire Police
1 representative from City of York Council
Support and coordination

Meetings
The task group will meet three times. The focus of its meetings will be;
To evaluate the current provision and information on hate crime reporting and support and the gaps in provision
To evaluate provision available in other areas which might address gaps in York and North Yorkshire
To formulate recommendations for action to be presented to the York and North Yorkshire Safer Communities Forum and the NYSP Equalities Task Group
