[FOI #42702 email]

Dear Mr Young,

Thank you for your email of 27 July 2010 requesting images and details of Thor missile launches. I apologise for the delayed response. Your letter has been treated as a request for information under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000. You asked:

Please provide whatever images and details you are able to in relation to any of these launches, and in particular to those of the missile with serial number 39.

I understand that an official documentary film was made of the launch, and would be particularly interested to know if that film still exists, and if it may be possible to obtain a copy, or to arrange a viewing.

Please except my apologies for the delay in getting your response to you.

I have been unable to identify the information that you requested through MOD sources. You might consider contacting the Imperial War Museum as they might hold some of the required information. Imperial War Museum provides a searchable imagery database on its website (www.iwmcollections.org.uk/qryphotoimg.php). Contact details for the Imperial War Museum can be found at http://www.iwm.org.uk/server/show/nav.64.

If you are unhappy with this response or you wish to complain about any aspect of the handling of your request, then you should contact me in the first instance. If informal resolution is not possible and you are still dissatisfied then you may apply for an independent internal review by contacting the Director of Information Exploitation, 6th Floor, MOD Main Building, Whitehall, SW1A 2HB (e-mail [email address]). Please note that any request for an internal review must be made within 40 working days of the date on which the attempt to reach informal resolution has come to an end.

If you are still unhappy following an internal review, you may take your complaint to the Information Commissioner under the provisions of Section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act. Please note that the Information Commissioner will not investigate your case until the MOD internal review process has been completed. Further details of the role and powers of the Information Commissioner can be found on the Commissioner's website, http://www.informationcommissioner.gov.uk.

Best regards

Matthew Burrows
