Dear Susan

Your Reference Number is: F0001610

I understand that on 18 November you made a request to the Department of Communities and Local Government under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for information about performance-related pay schemes in the public sector bodies for which the Department is responsible. I am responding in respect of the Government Offices for the Regions.

All pay increases made to the 2058 staff working in the Government Offices are performance related, in that staff who have not achieved the majority of their objectives during the previous year do not receive any increase in their salary. In addition, our highest performing staff who have exceeded the majority of their objectives (about 25%) receive a lump sum Performance Bonus equivalent to whichever is greater of 3% of their basic salary or:

Administrative Assistant and equivalent specialist grades

£500

Administrative Officer and equivalent specialist grades

£600

Executive Officer and equivalent specialist grades

£750

Higher Executive Officer and equivalent specialist grades

£800

Senior Executive Officer and equivalent specialist grades

£1,000

Grade 7

£1,200

Grade 6

£1,600

The Government Office Network aims to be as helpful as possible in the way it deals with requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004. If, however, you are not satisfied with the way in which your request has been handled or the outcome, you may appeal by requesting an internal review within two calendar months of the date of this letter. Information about Government Office review procedures and how to apply for an internal review of your case is contained in the enclosed leaflet. This also explains your right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner (ICO) for a decision in the event that you remain dissatisfied following the authority's review. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the internal review procedure described in the leaflet.

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.

Yours sincerely

PAUL ARKELL
