Commissioners of Work Acts 1852 and 1894.

The Ministry of Works (Transfer of Powers) No.1) Order (SI 1945/991) transferred the functions and property of the Commissioners
of Works to the Minister of Works with effect from 15 August 1945.

By the Minister of Works (Change of Style and Title) Order (SI 1962/1549) the style and title of the Minister of Works was changed to the Minister of Public Building and Works.

By the Secretary of State for the Environment Order 1970 (SI 1970/1681), which came into operation on 12 November 1970, the functions of the Minister of Public Building and Works were transferred to the Secretary of State and the property of that Minister (except land outside the UK) was transferred to the Secretary of State for the Environment.

By the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions Order 1997 (SI 1997/2971), which came into force on 26 January 1998, the property of the Secretary of State for the Environment (except land outside UK) was transferred to the Secretary of State
for the Environment, Transport and the Regions.

By the Secretaries of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions and for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Order 2001

(SI 2001/2568), which came into force on 13 August 2001, the property of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions (except land outside the UK) was transferred to the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions.

By the Transfer of Functions (Transport, Local Government and the Regions) Order 2002. (SI 2002/2626) which came into force

on 25 November 2002, the property of the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions (other than land outside the

UK and property connected with functions transferring to the Lord Chancellor, the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions or the Secretary

of State for Transport) was transferred to the First Secretary of State.

By the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Order 2006 (SI 2006/1926) which came into force on 21 August 2006, the property of the First Secretary of State (other than property connected with functions transferring to the Secretary of State for

Transport) was transferred to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
