Dear P Chapman

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please find herewith the following:

Request

Please could you provide me with information in regards to the cost of running a Graduate Recruitment Scheme within your authority. I would appreciate a general overview of the cost and if possible a breakdown of the cost of different areas i.e. recruitment costs, training, etc.

Response

Per Graduate per annum

Graduate Salary c. £24,000.00

Recruitment Costs c. £1,500.00 - £2,000.00 - consists of an assessment centre with group exercise, 1-1 simulation with actor, presentation and panel interview. Where possible we use current graduates to contribute to the recruitment centre administration which also helps to build capacity. This cost fluctuates depending on how many graduates are assessed and recruited.

Psychometric Testing c £120.00 - typically Myers Briggs Step I and Step II and Belbin, or similar - this cost is just for the tests conducted online.

Leadership Development Centre c £500 - £1000.00 - 2 days of management/leadership development work - economies of scale mean costs may vary depending on how many graduates are attending - this range is between 6 and 12 graduates.

Subsidised Training Courses c £100.00 - these are generally offered and funded corporately but some incur subsidised charges.

Lunchtime Learning - developed and delivered free by manager.

Mentoring - provided free internally.

Coaching - free, provided via manager of programme, as part of management development centre, or via WMLGA Coaching Pool.

Stationery/IT - typically provided by host placement although there may be nominal charges such as ID badges.
