Re: - Request for Information regarding Manchester City Council's on- line burial records

Dear R. Orr,

Thank you for your request for information, which was received by Manchester City Council on 6th July 2010 and has been considered under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

In response to your request, I have summarised the information as follows:

The income generated from the on-line burial records website was £13,510 in the financial year 1st April 2009 to 31st March 2010.

No specific records are kept regarding the cost of administration of the system. The task of administration is part of the normal administration workload and is not broken down specifically into costs for the administration of the website. As such there is no indication of how much income is left after administration costs are deducted.

The income generated from the website is part of the annual income generated by Bereavement Services and is used to help run and maintain the five Cemeteries across the City.

Please note if you are not satisfied with this response you may ask for an internal review. If you wish to complain you should contact Lynn Evans, Information Compliance Officer ([Manchester City Council request email]) in the first instance. Your complaint will be considered by a senior officer who has not already been involved with this response. If you require more information about the Council's access to information complaints procedure this can be downloaded from:

Alternatively, if you prefer a paper copy, please let me know.

Please also note that if you have exhausted the internal Councils' review procedures and you are still not satisfied you have the right to appeal to the Information Commissioner (ICO). Details of this procedure can be found on the ICO website: http://www.ico.gov.uk
