Dear Bassetlaw District Council,

The Retford Times, 10 June 2010, in an article titled "Planning
application rejection leads airport chiefs to increase number of
training flights," an un-named district council spokesman is quoted
as saying:

"We can confirm that the council will continue to monitor
activities [at Retford (Gamston) Airport] to ensure they comply
with the requirements of the existing permission."

1. What is the Council's policy to "monitor activities" at the
airport and how are these activities carried out?

2. How many times, and with what results, have the activities of
the airport been "monitored" since the last permission change?

3. What penalties are available to the council if the activities
are found to be in breach of the current permissions?

Yours faithfully,

Garland Hopkins
