Annex A
GUIDELINES ON DEALING WITH NOTIFICATIONS OF MISREPRESENTED REGISTRATION NUMBERS
(Amended April 2008)
Initial notification - send Letter A (copy attached)
There is no longer a requirement to send a `pre warning' letter
Second notification - send Letter B (copy attached)
Once sent the case is to be given a B/F date of 21days. If no photographic evidence is received by this date the case should be passed to policy for consideration of revocation.
Third notification
Cases where photographic evidence of a change of plate has previously been sent and a further notification is received are to be passed to policy for consideration of revocation.
These guidelines should be followed in all cases i.e. cherished/non-cherished plates/ANPR failures/ numbers considered offensive. The only exception is a number plate that read as offensive when being correctly displayed.
Cases already on the VPU database should be treated as follows:
Pre sent already - continue with Letter A then Letter B
Full sent already - continue with Letter B
