Dear Mr. Bradbury,

Thank you for your FOI request by email dated 27th October 2008.

You asked:

“Will you please let me have a schedule showing the amounts of duty payable
per litre of (a) petrol (b) diesel and (c) agricultural (red) diesel for each fiscal
year commencing 1990/91 to date.”

The information you are seeking can be found in the Hydrocarbon Oils Bulletin,
which is routinely published on the UK Trade Info website at the link below. As the
FoI Act establishes a legal process, we formally have to point out that the information
provided in  response to your question has already been published and is therefore
exempt from re-issue under section 21 of the Act.  However, we recognise that it is
not always easy to locate information and, for convenience, I am attaching a copy of
the relevant table from the Bulletin.  Please note that government information is
covered by crown copyright (see notice below). For clarity I should also explain that
the ‘Gas Oil’ column is the rate that has applied to red diesel. The web link is as
follows  -

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact us at the email account
above.  It would be helpful to us, if you could remember to quote the IRU reference
number given in the header to this letter in any future communications.
