Dear Mr Peasgill

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION APPLICATION REFERENCE NO: 1408/08

Thank you for your request for information received by Lancashire Constabulary on the 27th October 2008, which can be found below:-

  1. How many speed cameras are run by Lancashire Constabulary or Lancashire Constabulary are involved in the whole of the County? Please indicate each and every location.

  2. How much revenue do Lancashire Constabulary make in aggregate as regards these cameras that is directly added to their funds?

Your request for information has now been considered and our responses can be found below:-

Question 1:

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (known hereafter as the `Act') I have decided to refuse access to the information you have requested.

Section 21 of the Act provides that information which is `reasonably accessible' to the applicant is exempt from disclosure under the Act. I feel this information is `reasonably accessible' as it is already published on the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety website, which can be accessed at the following address:-

http://www.safe2travel.co.uk/cameras.asp

Question 2

Lancashire Constabulary holds no information on this point, as the fines for speeding offences are processed by Her Majesty's Court Service. The fine income from speed cameras is not retained by the local partnerships. All fine income goes to the Treasury's consolidated fund.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in Lancashire Constabulary.

Yours sincerely

Paul Walker
