DEMOLITION
OF LISTED
BUILDINGS
Thank you for your request for information about the demolition of listed
buildings which we received on 27 October.
Information not Held
I must inform you under section I7 of the 2002 Act that we do not hold
definitive statistics on the number of listed building consent (LBC)
applications for demolition referred to us. As determining authority, this
information should be held by individual planning authorities and you may
wish to approach relevant planning authorities direct to obtain this.
I can confirm, however, that from May 2007, two LBC applications for
demolition were called in for Scottish Ministers own determination (Glen
O'Dee Hospital, Banchory; Fullarton Parish Church, Irvine). Decisions on
both cases are still pending.
I am sorry we are unable to assist with part of your enquiry. If you are
dissatisfied with our response, you may ask us to carry out an internal
review, by writing to Chief Executive, Historic Scotland, Longmore House,
Salisbury Place, Edinburgh, EH9 ISH. Your request should explain why you
wish a review to be carried out, and should be made within 40 working days
of receipt of this letter, and we will reply within 20 working days of receipt. If
you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to
make a formal complaint to the Scottish Information Commissioner.
