Please find below the number of homophobic hate crimes recorded by Suffolk
Constabulary in each of the last three financial years:

In accordance with section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA)
this response serves as a formal notification of refusal for this part of your
request on the basis that Suffolk Constabulary does not hold, for the purposes
of FOIA, the information you have requested in a retrievable format.
The data is not easily extractable from a central database or held in a
spreadsheet. In order to comply with your request, Suffolk Constabulary
would need to manual y view al crime reports relating to homophobic hate
crimes recorded in the last three financial years, to ascertain the number of
crimes referred to the Crown Prosecution Service. This equates to al 153
crime reports. This process would take many hours, and there would be no
guarantee that once the information has been col ated, it would be accurate or
complete.
The cost of providing you with the information is above the amount to which
we are legal y required to respond. The cost of locating and retrieving the
information exceeds the ‘appropriate level’ as states in the Freedom of
Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004. It is estimated
that it would cost more than £450 to comply with your request.
The Suffolk Constabulary in complying with their statutory duty under sections 1 and 11 of the Freedom
of Information Act 2000 to release the enclosed information wil not breach the Copyright, Designs and
Patents Act 1988. However, the rights of the copyright owner of the enclosed information wil continue to
be protected by law. Applications for the copyright owner’s written permission to reproduce any part of
