Question 1a. The total number for the 2007/08 is 533.

Question 1b, has now been considered and I am not obliged to supply this information, because it is exempt by virtue of s21of the Freedom of Information Act. Please note: in Greater Manchester Police, we count homophobic hate crimes as those motivated by sexual orientation.

Question 2a & 2b.

Greater Manchester does not hold this information is an easily retrievable format, the cost of determining if the information is held, locating and retrieving the information exceeds the

` Appropriate Level' as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fess and appropriate limit) Regulations 2004. It is estimated that it would cost more than £450 to comply with your request.

In order to supply you with the requested information, our system would need to be searched manually, not only would this process be extremely time consuming, which would clearly be exceeding the cost threshold in this case, but there would be no guarantee of accuracy, due to the number of records which would have to be viewed.
