I refer to our letter dated 18 December and our subsequent emails explaining the delay in 
responding to your request.  
 
I apologise for the length of time taken to answer your request.  Following a detailed review 
of the information you requested I have to inform you that the details are being withheld 
under FOI exemption 24 National Security 1 (b) for the purpose of safeguarding national 
security. This is due to the nature of the information you requested and that the details 
could potentially aid any aggressors seeking to test the UK’s emergency response systems, 
thus posing a threat to national security by potentially revealing a degree of capability of the 
IRT by providing them with details of the frequency the IRT has been deployed and any 
subsequent positive detection rate.
