Dear Mr Gehrke

Re: Freedom of Information Act 2000 - FOIA1078

Thank you for your recent request which has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). You requested the following information:

I Require Information on Web Site visited by Members of the council that are provided with a Lap Tops by Council Tax Payers yet visit sites that are not used within their role as councillors. Who pays the bill for this usage?

The Councillors laptops are not connected to the Council network as all the information they need to access is on available via the internet, this may change in the future. As such there is no regular monitoring of which websites the Councillors visit.

They do have to adhere to the Council policy on internet usage and when the laptops come in for maintenance this is reviewed but no logs are kept.

The Councillors receive an allowance of £225 a year to cover the costs of access to the internet, ink for their printers and paper.

If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our decision, you should write to David Kitson, Senior Solicitor, Legal and Support Services, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, YO11 2HG or email [email address].

If you are not content with the outcome your complaint, you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the Information Commissioner's Office cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure provided by Scarborough Borough Council. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: The Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. Tel: 01625 545745 Fax: 01625 524510 Web: www.ico.gov.uk.

Yours sincerely
