Dear Mr Blackwell

Re: Request for information:-Ref: LEI/86FFSX

Thankyou for your request for the following information, which was received by Manchester City Council on 5th July 2010 and is seeking clarification of the response that was forwarded to you that day and has been considered under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA):-

(Your request, 5th July, 2010)

“The charge stated was a general indication and it is unclear to me how this applies to the specific events in the request. As you will be aware the request related to two events over two days, with differing capacities (15000 and 20000 on the respective dates). In addition a large selection of the park was closed for a considerable period while the event took place.

“Please could you clarify how this is reflected in the charges? Is the stated charge a one-off charge regardless of the period of park closure (which would seem a little unreasonable)? Does it apply to a certain period of time (e.g a daily charge) or is it per event? Please could you explain how the per-head charge applies in the context of the events specified in the request?”

Reply:-

The charge of £1.25 per head was made based on a total capacity of 35,000 (15,000 plus 20,000). The £1.25 charge is applicable to this kind of commercial event only and covered the use of the park by the organisers for the event, including set up and de-rig days.

Please note if you are not satisfied with this response you may ask for an internal review. If you wish to complain you should contact Lynn Evans, Information Compliance Officer ([Manchester City Council request email]) in the first instance.
