Type of fill: Licence permitted the deposit of dry waste from inorganic chemical
manufacture, including building rubble contaminated with asbestos, packaging

1. This data sheet refers specifically to issues concerning landfill gas. Its content is distinct
from Sandwell MBC’s requirements under Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act
1990.
2. Landfill gas in this context is an end product of the degradation of biodegradable wastes
in a landfill site. Biodegradable material is any organic matter that can be decomposed by
microorganisms. Typically it is a mixture of up to 65% methane and 35% carbon dioxide
plus trace concentrations of a range of organic gases and vapours.
