Dear Mr Wright
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
Thank you for your request for information under the Freedom of Information
Act (
FOIA) received by the Olympic Delivery Authority (
ODA) on 16 October
2008 requesting the following information:
1) What official or panel had the final say over the 8 minutes London
2012 displays in Beijing during the closing ceremony and the same
people be responsible for designing and approving the 2012 Opening
and Closing ceremony.
2) At the time of the display, it received a lot of negative on some news
programs by members of the public. Has any been done to gather
feedback on the events, if so may i what conclusions have been
made? If research has NOT been done into this matter, why and who
is responsible for failing to ask the public what they thought about how
British taxpayers money was spent.
3) What officials decided the Olympics Parade to celebrate the athletes
medal haul should be held two months after the events. Why could this
of not been held sooner? Who had the say for this event to be held on
a THURSDAY, a week day when of the population are at work or
school. Was any research gathered on the impact of holding this event
on a weekday? If there is a low turnout because of the two things
mentioned before, will be held accountable for this failure or will
lessons be?
A lot of people are unhappy about the lack of promotion Thursdays has
got and this may contribute to a low turnout. Who is for advertising this
event, how much tax payers money paid to a company for advertising
it and has any minister or official raised concerns about the victory
parade.
4) I would like to see any documents available showing the decision only
include the 1st and 4th verse of the British national at the 2008
Olympic closing ceremonies. Who made this and will the FULL national
anthem be included at the 2012 Olympic games or again just the 1st
and 4th, which confused a lot people. Was the same thing done the
last time Britain hosted the Olympics, or was the full version used?
The ODA does not hold information falling within the description specified in
your request.
However, the ODA works closely with the London Organising Committee of
the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Limited (
LOCOG) who may be
able to assist you on points 1, 2 and 4 for which they were responsible.
LOCOG is the organisation that will be staging the Olympic and Paralympic
Games (
the Games) while ODA is responsible for building the infrastructure
for the Games. As such you may wish to direct your enquiries directly to
LOCOG. However, please note that LOCOG is a private company limited by
