Dear Mr Roberto
Below is the information you requested under the Freedom of Information
Act in relation to National Museums Liverpool's collections totals. We
have not broken down the numbers into our constituent museums. This is
something that we are currently working upon, but the information is not
available at present.
For audit purposes, a count of 1,870,203 was reached in 2006 which
counts some collections in terms of object batches, lots, clutches or
boxes (notably Archives and Field Archaeology).
This figure has been updated on the same basis, to include acquisitions
for the financial years 2006-2007 and 2007-2008, to 1,880,848.
This figure does not include academic libraries of which there are
approximately 103,583 items.
In 2003 a figure of 3,095,297 for individual objects was compiled (this
includes Archives and Field Archaeology). The updated figure will be
nearer 4million objects.
I hope that this information satisfies you request.
Regards
Claire
