Dear Ms Worsley,
In reply to your Freedom of Information request regarding databases containing information about potential violent warning markers against any citizens. As at 1st October 2008 we do not hold any information of this kind. At the present time there is only one database in use and we receive our information from Job Centre Plus so they would be the ones who would write to persons concerned.
With regard to any future information a PVP marker may be placed on file where an incident meets any of the following criteria:
Actual or attempted assault against an employee.
A weapon was used or threatened to be used against an employee.
A threat of violence against an employee.
Any displayed threatening behaviour towards an employee.
Anyone who has stalked an employee.
Where information has been provided by an outside Agency advising that lone visits or visits by certain categories of employee should not be made. In such cases data will only be accepted where it has been collected in compliance with the Data Protection Act.
Any incident where an animal attached or attempted to attack an employee, or was perceived to be dangerous.
The minimum period of inclusion on the database is twelve months. If there is a repeat offence within the twelve months period the warning will not be reviewed until 12 months after the latest offence.
The Head of Service or a nominated deputy will decide whether or not to inform the individual and the decision will be recorded on the assessment form.
You may, if dissatisfied with the treatment of your request, ask the Council to conduct a review of its decision under the council's complaints procedure. Someone who has not been involved in dealing with your request for information will carry out the review. Please e-mail or write if you would like a review.
If, following the review, you remain dissatisfied with the Council's treatment of your request then you may take your complaint to the Information Commissioner at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Yours sincerely
Maureen Gordon
