Thank you for your email of 30 September 2008 in which you ask for:

“A copy of the following document:

Prison Industries: an internal review of the strategic oversight and management of public sector prison Industries in England and Wales' which was published in July 2003. It was a report by the Prison Industries Review Team' under the authority of the (then) Secretary of State for the Home Department.

The document is cited on p. 51 of the House of Commons Home Affairs Committee's report 'Rehabilitation of Prisoners, First Report of 2004-05, Volume 1', which was published in December 2004.”

Your request is being handled in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 as a request for information.

I am pleased to be able to disclose the publication that you requested in the form of an attachment with this letter.

As part of our obligations under the Freedom of Information Act, the Ministry of Justice has an independent review process. If an individual is dissatisfied with a response they may request an independent internal review of our handling of a request. A request for internal review should be made in writing in the next 40 working days by submitting details of the complaint and quoting our reference number to the address above.

During the independent review the department's handling of information request will be reassessed by staff who were not involved in providing the original response. If the matter remains unresolved after an internal review there is a right of complaint to the Information Commissioner as established by s.50 of the FoIA.
