Dear Mr Schiller,

Thank you for your e-mail registered here on 29th May about PC Appeal No. 70 of 1997.

I regret to inform you that the Home Office does not hold the information you have requested.

As stated by my colleague (S John) on 20th May, the Home Office does not hold records of police investigations or appeals undertaken by other Government Departments or other organizations. Any requests for such information should be addressed to the relevant police force, Government Department or organization concerned.

We have been unable to trace the letter you sent to Jack Straw, MP when he was Home Secretary in 1999, or a record of the action taken on this letter. All copies of public correspondence are destroyed two years after being received.

If you are dissatisfied with this response you may request an independent internal review of our handling of your request by submitting your complaint within two months to the below address quoting reference: 9666
