Mr William Steele,

[FOI #3166 email]

Dear Mr Steele,

Request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

I refer to your request dated 25th September 2008 requesting that the following information be provided to you:

“I am writing to request the statistics for the number of people on each housing list as well as the estimated waiting time for re-housing.”

On inspecting our records, however, it would appear that Glasgow City Council does not hold the information which you have requested. Neither does anyone else hold it on our behalf. Accordingly we are unable to comply with your request.

As you are no doubt aware Glasgow City Council transferred its housing stock to the Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) in March 2003. All records relating to waiting lists to former council housing stock would be available from them.

For greater detail I would suggest that you contact the GHA at Granite House, 177 Trongate, Glasgow, G1 5HF, who should be able to assist you.

Details of waiting lists for the GHA and other Registered Social Landlords can also be obtained from:

The Scottish Housing Regulator

Highlander House

58 Waterloo Street

GLASGOW G2 7DA

Telephone: 0141 271 3810

Fax: 0141 221 5030

If you are dissatisfied with the way Glasgow City Council has dealt with your request you are entitled to require the Council to review its decision. Please note that for a review to take place you must:

The Solicitor to the Council

Glasgow City Council

City Chambers

George Square

Glasgow G2 1DU

Email: [email address]

You will receive notice of the results of the review within 20 working days of receipt of your request. The notice will state the decision reached by the reviewing officer as well as details of how to appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner if you are still dissatisfied with the Council's response. You must request an internal review by the Council before a complaint can be directed to the Scottish Information Commissioner.

If you have any further queries regarding this process, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Bill Brown,

Principal Officer (Area Development)
