Dear Mr. Knott,
Freedom Of Information Request
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request received on 20 September 2008.
Please find tabulated below the information requested with regards to the number of Fixed Daily Charge notices that have been issued and the total revenue received for the last 5 financial years:
Financial Year |
Notices Issued (all locations) |
Revenue Received |
2007/2008 |
25,758 |
£589,286 |
2006/2007 |
23,859 |
£654,636 |
2005/2006 |
30,553 |
£608,811 |
2004/2005 |
23,540 |
£646,119 |
2003/2004 |
31,246 |
£670,639 |
With regard to those locations that do not have formal parking bays I can confirm that these fall into two large scheme areas at Summerhill and Kingston Park.
The Kingston Park scheme was introduced on 25 August 2006 to help alleviate the problems that residents were finding parking their vehicles on Match Days. For the first two home matches of the season on 25 August 2006 and 8 September 2006, warning notices were issued advising motorists that a new scheme had been introduced.
The scheme at Summerhill was formally introduced during September 2003 with warning notices being issued for a two week period.
Unfortunately, the information you requested with regard to income from these locations is not readily available. It would require an officer to appraise each notice for the above schemes to establish the payment history and it is therefore estimated that this would take on average 2 minutes per case which equates to some 123 working hours.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Environmental Information Regulations 2004 there will be a fee for this element of your request. It is estimated that this cost will be in the region of £3075 based upon 123 hours at £25 per hour. Should you wish to proceed with this then I would require payment in full in advance of any works being undertaken.
However, I can confirm that on average 80% of parking notices are paid either directly or via the Magistrates Court. A further 19% of notices are cancelled for various reasons with typically 1% in legal process year on year.
With this in mind the number of notices issued across the two schemes over the past 5 years is tabulated below with estimated income figures based on the above percentages.
Financial Year |
