Dear Ms Potter
Thank you for your e-mail of 19 March 2010 (reference 14412) in which you ask for copies of
the UASC costing information submissions that we hold that were submitted by the 5 local
authorities (cross reference 12455) including amendments. We wrote to you on the 20 April
to ask whether you stil wanted this information as it was apparent it had also been requested
and received from the local authorities themselves. You responded stating you stil want this
information and this request became reference 14748. Your request has been handled as a
request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Firstly I must apologize for the delay in this response. As the reform programme is no longer
continuing in the way originally envisaged, and in particular specialist authorities are not
being pursued, the information supplied by local authorities was no longer needed and when
the lead official retired it was not archived. However an extensive search has located most of
the information you require. Please find attached the submissions for Warwickshire, Barnsley
and Solihul . I am afraid I have not been able to locate a submission by Leicestershire or
Tameside nor can I find the unamended version submitted by Solihull.
In keeping with the Freedom of Information Act, we assume that al information can be
released to the public unless it is exempt. In line with normal practice we are therefore
releasing the information which you requested via the Home Office website.
I hope that this information meets your requirements. I would like to assure you that we have
provided you with all relevant information that the Home Office holds.
If you are dissatisfied with this response you may request an independent internal review of
our handling of your request by submitting a complaint within two months to the address
below, quoting reference 14748. If you ask for an internal review, it would be helpful if you
could say why you are dissatisfied with the response.

As part of any internal review the Department's handling of your information request wil be
reassessed by staff who were not involved in providing you with this response. If you remain
dissatisfied after this internal review, you would have a right of complaint to the Information
Commissioner as established by section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act.
Yours sincerely
