Thank you for your e-mail of 8 March, in which you ask for information about the Identity and Passport Service's (IPS) job creation in Durham. Your request has been handled as a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I am able to disclose the following information.

You asked:-

Could you please inform me within the IPS executive agency of the Home Office, exactly how many new jobs have been created in Durham as a result of people working on the National Identity Card Scheme. I'd like to know the FTE equivalent of these posts please, and the number created per fiscal year

2006/7

2007/8

2008/9

2008/10 (until date of request)

IPS has used its current resources to process identity card applications in Durham.
