Regarding issue 3 you confirm that all mobile sites are declared and that the
figure of 24 is correct. I am aware that mobile enforcement has been occurring
on the Aston Expressway, A38(M), but this information is missing from your
response presumably because it is a discontinued site.
Please advise the period when mobile enforcement of the A38(M) was
commenced and when it was discontinued.
Please advise if the mobile unit would have been parked on the hard shoulder
together with the mobile signage, or whether the mobile unit would have been
located on an overhead crossing. There does not appear to be any convenient
lay-by on the A38(M).
Please advise if enforcement on the A38(M) was carried out in both directions,
the KSI figures which initiated the deployment strategy, and the reasons for
discontinuation of deployment.
No information is held. The Casualty Reduction Scheme have never conducted
mobile enforcement on A38(M) Aston Expressway. As The Casualty Reduction
Scheme control the only mobile vans within the Force area it is difficult to see how
mobile enforcement could have taken place, unless it has occurred outside the West
Midlands Police area. If that is the case some relevant information may be held by
another public authority.
Regarding the accuracy of information on the camera website, please advise
when the camera on the A45 Coventry Road, westbound South Yardley, was
repositioned and why it still is not being displayed on the website.
The aim of the camera map on the Casualty Reduction website is to show motorists
the camera sites which are useable under our deployment strategy. Camera sites are
therefore only added to the website when they are fully commissioned and ready to
use, and the installation date given on the website is the date when the site was
commissioned. This site has not yet been commissioned and it is therefore not
displayed.
Work to relocate the camera housing was reported as complete by Birmingham City
Council on 4 March 2009. An exact date for when the work was actually completed is
not held by West Midlands Police.
The above date only relates to when the housing itself was installed. Before the site
can be used the power supply needs to be connected, and both signing and
secondary check marks need to be put in place. Only when this work is complete can
the site be commissioned and brought into use.
This site will be commissioned in the near future.
