Further to your enquiry, the Council's response under the Freedom of Information Act is that it does not hold any of the information requested, and is therefore unable to supply it to you. However, in accordance with the Council's obligation to provide advice and assistance, the replies to your questions are as follows:
Your predecessor, Congleton Borough Council, operated from Westfields in Sandbach with a UC Registered Number: UC3358636. It is correct that Congleton Borough Council's main office was at Westfields, Middlewich Road, Sandbach, but it had no "UC Registered Number".
1. Does "Cheshire East Council" (operating from the same address), have a UC Registered Number and if so what is it? Cheshire East Borough Council's main office is now Westfields. It has no UC Registered Number. Cheshire East Borough Council is a local authority, and local authorities are not allocated any "UC Registered Number". It is unclear where the number you have quoted has arisen from. Registered companies which are registered with Companies House are allocated numbers, but although a local authority is deemed to be a corporate body in law, it does not have to be registered as a company would, nor does it have a number allocated to it.
2. I note that "Cheshire East Council" is a "brand name" for "Cheshire East Borough Council", so does Cheshire East Borough Council have a UC Registered Number and if so what is it? Cheshire East Borough Council uses the style "Cheshire East Council" on some of its materials, but its title for legal purposes is Cheshire East Borough Council. "Cheshire East Borough Council" and "Cheshire East Council" are therefore one and the same entity. As explained above, it does not have a UC Registered Number.
3. If Cheshire East Council currently has no UC Registered Number, will it have one after April 1st following a full year of trading? No, for the reasons explained above."
