1) How many deaths in custody have occurred in the last 5 years?

The figures by force area are published by the IPCC by financial year. Under section
21 of the FOI Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request
if it is already reasonably accessible to you. The information you requested is
available on the following website.

http://www.ipcc.gov.uk/index/resources/research/reports_polcustody.htm

2) Which station was responsible for each person who died? (E.g.  Bromley: X
deaths. Brixton: Y deaths. Etc.)

We have assumed that you require the station where each death occurred as the
stations were not necessarily ‘responsible’ for these deaths.

The deaths occurred on E1 (Bournville Lane), K1 (West Bromwich) and K2
(Smethwick) Operational Command Units.

3) How many members of the public are served by the police stations where
deaths occurred?

The data below are taken from the 2001 Census.

OCU Population
E1 139,558
K1 141,254
K2 141,653
