I have spoken to CLS (Stephen Wray/Richard M ond) and Transport (Matthew Cockburn) and we can now proceed to sell some of our land to the developer to facilitate the cycling possibilities they wish to promote, as this aspiration sits well with our own sustainable transport plans.
There are a number of caveats however:
1. The developer would need to engage in dialogue with our biodiversity colleagues in CLS, to ensure the proposals provide necessary but reasonable compensating measures.
2. The land sale should only be finalised if the developer gets planning permission and proceeds with these specific proposals.
3. The land involved is part of the north embankment adjacent to the Chocolate Factory site, but as Matthew has correctly identified, other plans they have submitted do appear to show them taking much more. We need to be absolutely clear about the extent of the sale proposed. I have raised this issue with George Ferguson, and he was going to arrange a meeting of relevant parties, for this to be made clear. Once their proposals have been clarified, I want to see the detailed plans, before we finally agree (pleasae come and see me with them).
I would therefore be grateful if you could now proceed expeditiously as outlined.
Regards.
David
