Dear HMP Britain,

I am writing further to our e-mail of 22nd February, about your request for quarterly Taser statistics and information from the Taser Database. Your request is being handled as a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I regret that we are unable to send you a full response to your request within 20 working days, as required by the Act. This is because the appropriately qualified staff who can create and run the reports you have requested are not available due to leave commitments until mid-April. We therefore now aim to send you a full reply by 30th April, 2010. [Author ID0: at ]

[Author ID1: at Thu Mar 18 17:46:00 2010 ]

Additionally, although you have requested the information to mirror the published quarterly Taser figures i.e. commencing 22 April 2004, due to the way data collation has evolved from that time in order for the information be consistent we will be providing you with data from incidents commencing from 20 July 2007 up to the end of December 2009.

I would like to apologise on behalf of the department for this delay, but I can assure you that we are dealing with your request and aim to provide you with a full response to your request as soon as we can. I hope this delay does not inconvenience you unduly.

If you have any queries about the handling of your information request in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me.
