Dear Mr Smith

Freedom of Information Act Request re Bluestone Rates Payments

Thank you for your request received in this office on 12th February 2010.

The information you requested is:

From the day that representatives of Grant Thornton were appointed as Administrators of the former Bluestone Companies, it is their responsibility to manage the affairs, business and property of that Company.  The County Council has submitted a claim for payment of the outstanding business rates to the Administrator for their consideration, and we await their decision on payment.  As explained previously, business rates are apportioned from the date the Administrator was appointed which generates a debt attributable to Mandaco of £139,629.  The successor Company will then be responsible for the business rates from their date of occupation.

If you have any complaints in respect of your information request, the Council does have a complaints procedure which includes requests specifically relating to the Freedom of Information Act. If your complaint is not resolved by the Council's procedure, you have a right under S50 of the Act to apply to the Information Commissioner for a further review of the matter by writing to the Information Commissioner's Office, Cambrian Building, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff CF10 5FL.

Yours sincerely

Neil Bennett

Head of Information and Cultural Services.
