i) Who are the incumbent suppliers of the "basic connectivity (Layer 2)" for your Wide Area Network Services? Are any contracts due for renewal in the next six months?
Answer:
H20, BT & Global Crossing. None of these contracts are up for renewal in the next 6
months.
ii) How many sites are there on your network and how many require high speed (greater than
1Gig) connections?
Answer:
We have in excess of 260 sites with varying degrees of connections speed. We currently only have 5 main sites connected at 1Gig. At the moment no site is classed as requiring anything faster than 1Gig.
iii) Do you build and operate your own network or do you use a Systems Integrator or Outsourcing company to do that? If so, please specify who and when the contract expires.
Answer:
We own and operate some of our local network. Our 1Gig wide area network is
operated by BT and H20. The BT element is set to expire 31st March 2012, whilst the
H20 element expires 30th September 2013.
iv) How many Data Centres do you use and are they on council premises or third party premises? Please specify post codes for DC locations. If third party please specify the company and when the contract expires.
Answer:
We have inherited, own and operate 5 data centres. We currently have a project underway to consolidate those into 2 main data centres that we own.
