Dear Mrs Brown,
Review Sub-Committee of the Standards Committee
Monday 30th November 2009
I refer to the meeting of the Review Sub-Committee which was held on Monday
30th November 2009. A copy of the decision notice and summary of the consideration of the complaint is attached for your information.
You will note from the rider to the decision that the Review Sub-Committee wished for me to express to you it's unease over West Wittering Parish Council's practice of conducting it's business by such extensive use of working parties, without written and publicly accessible terms of reference.
Whilst the Review Sub-Committee acknowledges that this practice is not unlawful, it did not consider it to be good practice. Its view is that serious consideration should be given by the Parish Council to reforming its process of decision making for the future.
Yours sincerely,
Vivien Williams
District Solicitor and Monitoring Officer
