Gritting
Request:
1. What budget has be apportioned for the purchase and storage of grit?
Salt budget £82,786
2. Do you have a method in place to stop the grit /salt from freezing either in the wagons
or bays?
Vehicles are stored loaded inside at depots.
3. How has this budget changed over the last 5 years: ie, has it increased, stayed the
same, or decreased?
Budget has increased in line with inflation.
4. What provisions are made for clearing pavements?
During adverse weather Street Cleansing, Grounds Maintenance and Highways
staff are redirected onto snow clearing on our secondary routes.
5. Does the Council possess any specialised equipment, such as small snow ploughs or
is the work only to be done manually?
At present footpath are cleared manually.
