Dear Mr Freeman

Freedom of Information request – RFI20100234

Thank you for your email of 15 February requesting the following about TV Licensing under the terms
of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the Act”);

how much it costs per case to bring a prosecution before the court?

The reference number for your request is RFI20100234.

Please note that you asked in an earlier request of 25 January 2010, reference number RFI20100104,
for the following:

Can you tell me how much it costs to prosecute a single person for TV licence evasion?

Because your two requests are so similar, to the point of being repeated, I must explain to you that
the BBC is refusing to comply with your new request under section 14(2) of the Act on the basis that
we have previously responded to you on this issue.

In my email to you of 15 February I asked that should you wish to pursue your request for an internal
review of your original request – reference RFI20100104 – then you need to explain the specific
issue(s) you would like the review to address.  I reiterate this offer of an internal review now and ask
that you let me know these details by return email.

Appeal Rights

If you are not satisfied that we have complied with the Act in responding to your request, you have
the right to an internal review by a BBC senior manager or legal adviser. Please contact us at the
address above, explaining what you would like us to review and including your reference number. If
you are not satisfied with the internal review, you can appeal to the Information Commissioner. The
